performing miracles in plastic…
This 3D character was developed for a client producing an animated short film aimed at introducing younger audiences to the story and legacy of Saint Patrick. The brief called for a playful and accessible interpretation of Ireland’s patron saint designed to look like a stylized plastic figurine, with a strong sense of toy-like charm and animation-ready clarity.
The character blends traditional iconography, bishop’s mitre, robe, and staff, with whimsical proportions and bold material stylization. Cloth elements such as the cloak, sash, and tunic were carefully simulated to provide realistic movement within a stylized design, and feature details like embroidered Celtic knots and shamrocks to reinforce Irish cultural identity in a playful way.
The glowing green staff adds a magical, almost superhero-like touch, bringing energy and excitement to the narrative. Expressive poses and gesture-ready topology made the model ideal for dynamic animation scenes, whether solemn, playful, or action-packed.
The project included sculpting, texturing, lookdev, and posing for promotional stills resulting in a faithful, kid-friendly 3D interpretation of Saint Patrick as both historical figure and folklore hero.
